24 frames & 3 keys

are you visiting again after yesterday’s post?  i sure hope so!

ever since i started seeing gallery walls pop up on the internet, i was smitten.  then we moved and i discovered we had the PERFECT wall for one.

i got straight to work stalking the local goodwills.  in total i found 24 frames for about $30.  CHA-CHING.  while i didn’t take a starting photo of what was actually in the old frames, i should have, it was some kind of hideous.  after collecting my frames and giving them a good sanding, i went straight to work painting.  a couple (try 4) coats of paint later and things were starting to come together.  i’d traced and numbered each frame so i could design my gallery wall instead of my usual “let’s just wing it and see what happens”.  best idea ever.

after staring at the kraft paper cut-outs for a few days, i decided we had a winning layout and ryan went to town hanging the frames.

i’m totally smitten.

  1. It looks fantastic! I would love to have a gallery wall someday, just haven’t found the perfect wall/had the energy to do it yet :o).

Honestly? I think it might look good a little fuller, but really it looks fantastic as is. And if you want to add more later, it would be some work, but you could!

    Nice work.

  2. man, that’s pretty cool. might do that to our stairwell

  3. Wow! That’s a lot of coats of paint but seriously, it looks amazing! Nice job!!

  4. Wow! This looks so good! I love all the different types of frames you found and the fact that they all feel a little different – some empty, some with photos…. I’m also a big fan of the keys. Great work!!

  5. Post some closeups! It looks like you did a pennant banner on the top right and something similar but with photos in the bottom left? I’d love to see the details of how you did those. Looks great!

  6. I think it turned out great!!!

  7. I love it – I’ve always wanted to do one but don’t have a wall that’s right for it currently.

  8. Love it!!!! You should do a gallery wall tour- I’d love to see what’s in the frames. I also got frames from goodwill and painted them white. But I hung them empty in my craft room. Well attach, I still need to do some paint touch ups but that’s what it will be. I also did the paper lay out first. So helpful!
